BURNS
Burning Clothing:
1. The flame must be put out immediately. This can be done by;
a. Wrapping the patient up in a sheet, bedcover, rug or from above downwards thus putting out the flame nearest to the face thus preventing inhalation of excessively hot air that may burn the respiratory tract.
NB: Wrapping up patient excludes air and flames will go out.
2. Lay the patient down to remove bedcover.
3. Do not remove any clothing which may be sticky to the burnt areas.
4. Pour water to cool the burns.
5. Check patient's condition - airway, breathing, and pulse. Resuscitate if necessary.
6. Sent patient to the hospital.
